ABCD Members’ Newsletter 28th January 2014

The half season has got off to an encouraging start. We have now shown three features and a short, which have been well attended and have had very positive reactions. If you would like to review the scores and comments, go to http://www.abfilms.org.uk and select 2013-2014 reactions.

Two reminders

  1. No film on February 20th (half-term week).
  2. Our annual silent screening takes place on March 6th at St.Nicolas’ Church in the Market Square in Abingdon. The film is PANDORA’S BOX, which Wendy Hiscocks will accompany it on piano. The film is based the Frank Wedekind play of the same name. (It is one of his Lulu plays). Please note that your annual or half-year membership includes admission to this event. One week members will of course be most welcome, but admission will cost slightly more than usual, £7 (£6 students). Tickets for members’ guests will be £6.

The show will start at 7.30 pm.

Season 2014-5 Preparations

In early February the committee will begin the process of considering next season’s programme of films. The “big list” – a couple of hundred titles, probably – will contain anything that committee and other members generally have put forward for discussion and although later submissions are welcome, the sooner we have them, the better! Then, in May, there will be a members’ meeting when you can give your reaction to what we have come up with.

The next members’ newsletter is planned for late February.
