This week: I Am Not Your Negro
We’re sending out this short message because the subject of our film this week is the late American writer James Baldwin. His books were widely read and admired and we suspect there must be quite a few of his enthusiasts in Abingdon. This film will surely not disappoint such people, as it contrives to do justice to Baldwin (most of the voiceover is his words, read by Samuel Jackson) while at the same time be very filmic. It also renders the themes chillingly relevant to our present times.
So if you know anyone who might be interested, do bring them along!
